What is a LOLER Inspection?

Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) inspections, also commonly known as thorough examinations, are important checks that must be conducted by a competent person on lifting equipment, including various types of lifts.

LOLER inspections ensure your lifting equipment is completely safe to use, in working order, and fully compliant. Our team performs detailed inspections to help identify signs of wear and tear and general structural issues that may need addressing.

Our LOLER Inspection Process

LOLER Regulation 9 requires thorough examinations of lifting equipment to be carried out by a competent person. We will send out one of our highly experienced, competent engineers to your premises to assess your lift in accordance with strict LOLER requirements and Schedule 1. This includes recording key information, such as who performed your inspection and the current condition of your lift.

If our engineer identifies any lift defects that may be a safety concern either now or in the near future, they will inform you straight away. Our findings will be verbally explained to you on the day of inspection before being documented within the Report of Thorough Examination as required by LOLER. We will also advise you on the next best steps, which may include arranging lift repairs, replacement, or further action.

Once we’ve completed your full LOLER inspection in Liverpool, you’ll receive a LOLER certificate (Report of Thorough Examination) to confirm the inspection has been successfully carried out. The report will be detailed, including all the information regarding your lifts, their defects, and when your next inspection is due.
